ELMVIEW DAIRY

Elmview is a third generation farm now owned and
operated by Harold Curtis. Harold’s brother Les, who has died, was also
part of the family operation. Today, Harold and his adult sons - Mark
and Lee Curtis operate the agribusiness.
In 1916 Grandpa Carlton Curtis was a milk tester in
Meadville and fell in love with Jersey cows. He gave up his job and
walked two days with his new Jersey herd to Columbus, PA to begin the
farm. Today this ALL Jersey farm milks 260 cows and farms over 800
acres. Their major crops are corn, alfalfa and other hays.
Harold is currently a member of the PA Dept. of
Agriculture Dairy Task Force under Secretary Wolff, and former officer
of the State PA Farm Bureau. His wife “Chubby” is a member of the State
Women’s Farm Bureau Committee, and both are very active in the Warren
County Farm Bureau.
Lee is a member of the Warren County Extension Board
of Directors and PA Council of Cooperative Extension, and a driving
force of the Future of Agriculture of Warren County Task Force. Mark is
a 4-H dairy leader and serves on the state board of Genex Cooperative
Inc., an animal breeding business. The family enjoys talking to
consumers about the importance of agriculture whether in Warren County,
Pennsylvania or nationally.
