In the Farm Spotlight
RIVERVIEW FARMS, David and Marjorie Manning
Manning FamilyOnce referred to as the Spargo Farm, Riverview Farms changed back to its original name when it was taken over by David and Marjorie Manning.  They work the farm themselves and are raising their son to respect and love the different aspects of farming.

The Mannings sell beef, pigs, hay, and seasonal vegetables.  In the summer they sell various vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, beets, beans, potatoes, cucumbers as well as their popular sweet corn.  In the fall they sell pumpkins, corn stalks, and gourds.  They also sell ear corn all year round.  More...

BLUEBERRIES!  BLUEBERRIES!
7/26/10 Blueberries are ripe for the picking all over Warren County.

Sue Curtin, editor and publisher of the The Valley Voice shares her recent experience at Helinski's Cherry Grove Blueberries.  Picking blueberries is fun and a great family activity.  Sue includes some great recipes  - just in case you pick more than you can eat.  More about Blueberries.

There are several blueberry u-picks in Warren County.  Look for signs on Fox Hill Road in Russell, across from Blueberry Hill Golf Club in Scandia, and in the Lottsville area.  U-Pick producers are invited to add their information to our U-Pick Farms directory.

Is the freezer getting full already? See tips on canning blueberries.  It is easy to do!

Hay Bale ContestThe Warren County Fair is August 10-14.  You can win a cash prize and complimentary passes to the Warren County Fair by helping promote our fair with some creative "home-grown" advertising.

Fair board member Judy Cerra borrowed the bale contest from our neighbors to the north.  If you need some ideas of what can be done with some hay bales and a little creativity, check out the Fergus Fall Fair hay bale pictures.

The Bale Contest entry deadline was July 1st.  Photos of Warren County bale displays will be posted as soon as they are available.
