The Hatch Patch offers "we pick" and "u-pick" strawberries. Their u-pick fields in Warren will be open every day 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Youth Conservation Camp is still accepting applications

Do you like the outdoors?  Do you want to learn about forests, conservation, water, wildlife, and environmental careers? For youths aged 12-14 the Warren County Conservation District offers the Youth Conservation Camp.   This is an overnight camp that starts at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 14th and ends at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th.  More information...

The registration deadline has been extended to July 10th.

LAZY J BISON: HOBBY EXPLODES INTO FULL-TIME JOB

Lazy J BisonThe Lazy J Bison Farm, established 11 years ago by John Hagberg and Linda Nicklas in Sugar Grove Township, is a hobby "that went mad."

"The farm, originally owned by father, was a dairy farm. After his death, I received part of the land and was supposed to turn it into a beef cattle farm, but I ended up discovering bison," said Hagberg. "We started off with two, named Thelma and Louise, and then it quickly grew to more than 20 and now there are around 40 on the property. The rest is history."

The benefits of bison meat, said Hagberg, are numerous.  More....
